All Sirius’ activities are organised by volunteering members. Next to the full-time board members, there are several committees consisting of active members of Sirius who are interested in organising excursions, lectures, drinks, parties and many more types of activities. The Advisory Council is a committee of the General Assembly of Sirius. The board receives advise from the Advisory Council when the board asks for it or when the Advisory Council thinks it is necessary.
AXie is an abbreviation for Activity Committee. This committee is free to organise several activities for the year. Those activities can be small, like going to a movie some time, or big like going to an amusement park for a day. All kinds of activities are possible so this gives the members space for enthusiasm and creativeness. Last years, the AXie organised amongst others an escape room 'Escape the Campus', Farmer Golf, a sportstournament and an online Crazy88. The AXie also organises the Batavierenrace and the Dies, the yearly birthday of Sirius.
Big Trip Committee
The Big Trip Committee organises the annual big trip abroad. In recent years, the trips went to Warsaw (Poland), Bratislava (Slovakia) and Prague (Czech Republic). This year, they will organise the trip to Krakau (Poland). Would you like to find an epic location and arrange both formal and informal activities? Do you like to organise trips? Cash Audit Comittee
The Cash Audit Committee is a committee of the General Members Assembly. It checks the finances of Sirius and helps the treasurer where needed.
Are you interested in becoming an active members and be in charge of your career possibilities? Join the Career Committee. The committee focuses namely on activities based upon the step between the University and the labour market. It organises the annual Career Days. Ohter examples of such activities could be CV-checks, LinkedIn workshops and a diversity of lunch lectures given by companies. The committee also focuses on activities in addition to the personal development of students, for example by time management workshops.
The Editoral Committee is responsible for making the Sirius Sights (SiSi), the association’s periodical. The members of the committee come up with a theme, interview people for the articles and write the articles. Each year the committee publishes a SiSi.
This committee organises study-related excursions. For example an excursion to the operation rooms of the MST or a guided tour in a care institution. Besides local excursions the ExCie GZW also organises the multiple day excursion, by which we visit several companies spread over two days. Overnight, we stay in that city. The Excursion Committee MS&T organises interesting excursions focused on Public Administration, European Studies and Management, Society and Technology students. These activities can vary from visits to local authorities to multiple day excursions abroad. Given the fact that these studies have a broad character, the committee can decide themselves what kind of authority they want to visit. Some examples are trips to a court, a housing association, a town hall or to the House of Representatives. The committee also organises the annual trip to the European Parliament in Brussels or Strasbourg.
The Freshmen committee is a committee for freshmen members to become known with activism. The Freshmen committee organises the Family Day. They also organise a number of small activities like a Hot Dog eating contest, beerpong, an end-of-the-year barbeque or a pubquiz. In this committee, you get to know your fellow first years students.
The GalaXie is the Gala Committee. This year, they will organise a gala dinner. Also, they look for possibilities to held a gala at the end of the academic year at an external location.
The MultiCulCie is Sirius' multicultural committee. The aim of the committee is to bring Dutch and international students together in a fun way. Examples of activities are an international lunch, games from different cultures and a pub quiz with knowledge questions about different cultures. This year, the MultiCulCie is also organising a christmas dinner, linked through other cultures. Would you like to organise these kinds of activities? Do not hesitate to strengthen the MultiCulCie!
The PoCo represents the Poster Committee. This committee is responsible for designing posters for activities that are organised by Sirius. This committee is the ideal opportunity to develop your creative side. Are you already experienced in working in Photoshop or do you just want to learn how Photoshop works? Then, this is your committee!
The PrivaCie is a committee that deals with the archive and privacy rules. The committee is working on getting the archive in order, so that the archive can be moved. In addition, the Privacy Committee investigates how the privacy rules work and advises the board on these matters. Do you like to be involved in these matters? Then join the PrivaCie!
The Relation Committee is responsible for setting up collaborations with companies. As a committee member you are in contact with all kinds of companies via mail and telephone, but you have physical contact with companies. The aim of the committee is to set up collaborations that are interesting for the studies that Sirius represents and to offer career prospects to our members.
The SiSo (Sirius Socials Committee) is the committee which takes care of the Instragram of Sirius. The posts and stories you see on @siriusenschede are the responsibility of this committee. As a member of this committee you keep all the members of Sirius up to date about the upcoming activities, you give them a glimpse into what Sirius is all about and are you busy creating an amazing Instagram feed!
The SKI is the Sirius Kick-In Committee. The SKI, which is a half-yearly committee, organises part of the very first day of the Kick-In as well as the introduction camp. During camp fun activities are organised to help the new students get to know each other.
The SnowCie is responsible for the organisation of the annual ski trip every year. The committee picks a location and arrange everything you need for a group of Sirius members to sport, chill and party for a weekend! Additionally, they organise some other activities related skiing. The SPoC is a political committee. The committee’s goal is to organise activities with a political theme. In previous years the committee has organised political debates, debate workshops, lunch lectures by political journalists or by famous politicians, such as Pieter Omzigt, Jeroen Dijsselbloem and Bert Koenders. This years committee will also organise an activity related to the (American) elections.
The Symposium Committee will be organising the annual Sirius Symposium. During this day there will be focused on a particular theme. Experts on that field will come to the University to give lectures and workshops. This day will be held around March.
The TaPCie is the Tap and Party Committee from Sirius. It is an informal committee which organises parties and that makes sure that the parties go smoothly. For instance, they are getting the decoration for the drinks and they take the bar shifts during the activities in the TechnoBar. This year, they will also search for alternatives to have drinks and parties.
