Over dit evenement

- 24 sep. 2020 12:30 - 13:30
The week from 19 to 27 September is Peace Week. For this reason PAX organizes the PAX Power to the People College Tour in cooperation with many study and student associations throughout the country. Sirius also participates in this!
On Thursday 24th of September 12:30-13:30 PAX will be organizing a webinar on ‘The influence of conflict on the climate’. If conflict and war aren’t bad enough, both have a major impact on the climate too. Not only is the defense industry one of the world’s largest emitters of CO2, but conflicts themselves cause pollution in various ways. These include explosions, toxic remnants of war and radioactive radiation from testing nuclear weapons. How does PAX work with civilians to combat these forms of pollution? Find out during this webinar! The webinar will be given by PAX’er Wim Zwijnenburg, Project leader Humanitarian Disarmament, and Peter Schwartzstein, Journalist at the Center for Climate and Security.
Interested? You can sign up here. The webinar will take place via Zoom. We hope to see many of you!
PAX stands for peace. Together with people in conflict areas and involved civilians worldwide, PAX works towards a humane and peaceful society, everywhere in the world. In the Netherlands PAX asks for political and public attention for conflict situations in the world and organizes the national Peace Week.
